How it works

The Wheel Spinner is an interactive spinning wheel that picks one entry from your list. You type your choices — one per line — and press Spin. The wheel animates and lands on a winner, complete with a satisfying pointer and full-screen option for presentations.

Here is the important part: the winner is chosen first, with secure browser randomness, before the animation even starts. The wheel then rotates to land on that pre-selected entry. This design guarantees fairness regardless of your device’s speed, screen size or frame rate. A common worry with spinning wheels is that the animation somehow determines the result — here it does not. The animation only reveals the already-fair choice.

When weighted mode is off, every entry has an exactly equal chance. The tool uses rejection sampling to pick a random index into your list without bias. When weighted mode is on, you can give some entries more influence by adding a number after a colon, for example “Pizza:3”. Entries with higher weights get proportionally more slices and are more likely to win — clearly labelled so you always know the wheel is not equally likely in that mode.

Extra features make the wheel practical for real use: Shuffle Order randomises the visual order of slices, Remove Winner deletes the chosen entry so you can spin again for a different result, and full-screen mode is perfect for classrooms, parties or live events where everyone needs to see the spin.

The winner is drawn with secure browser randomness before the animation begins, so device speed, screen size and frame rate never affect the result. In standard mode every entry has an exactly equal chance. Weighted mode is clearly labelled and lets you give some entries more slices intentionally.

Random results are generated locally in your browser using secure browser randomness (Web Crypto crypto.getRandomValues()) where supported, with equal probability for every valid entry. No account is required, your lists are processed in the browser and never uploaded, names are not sent to analytics, and optional history stays only in your local browser storage. This tool is not for regulated gambling or official lotteries.
